  • General FAQs

Is the Neurology Group Of Bergen County an independent practice or is it owned by any hospital or health system?

While we maintain close working relationship with the Valley Health System and The Valley Hospital we are a completely independent, physician owned group practice.

When I call for an appointment can I request a specific physician?

While all of our physicians treat general neurological conditions, most of our doctors have a focus on a particular sub specialty of neurology. We may suggest a particular physician based on the medical issue that you or your referring physician describe when contacting us. Please keep in mind that if you need an immediate appointment the physician of your choice may not be available. We will always strive to provide you with a physician who can best meet your needs as quickly as possible should you require assistance. Please note that because we are a group practice in some situations you may be seen by a colleague of your primary physician should your regular doctor not be available.

Do your physicians speak any foreign languages?

Several our physicians are fluent in a wide range of languages including: Spanish, Italian, Russian, Mandarin, Hindi, and Urdu. Please inform us if you or a family member has a particular need in this regard and we will do our best to accommodate you.

Do you have a way for me to stay in contact with the practice by computer or smart phone?

Yes. A Patient Portal is available to all of our patients. It provides a convenient way for you to obtain the forms and information that you need before your initial visit, send messages to the practice, review a summary of your last visit, and to obtain general information about your condition, tests, procedures that you may be having. We are available to assist you in registering to use the portal. We will walk you the process and answer any questions you may have. Please note that the Patient Portal is not set up to address emergent matters.

My family member is sixteen years old and needs an appointment. Should she see an adult or pediatric neurologist?

While our adult neurologists are prepared to see patients as young as ten years of age (or younger in the case of an emergency) these physicians do not generally treat those below the age of ten. Generally, learning related or behavioral challenges will be addressed by one of our pediatric neurologists. These physicians work closely with referring pediatricians and schools to meet our patients' needs.

Do you provide twenty four hour emergency coverage for your patients

Yes. A Neurology Group physician is always available for patients who require emergent attention both within and outside of the hospital. Coverage is available utilizing our answering service, 24 hours per day, 7 days per week, 365 days a year.

Is on site parking available at your office?

Yes. Complimentary valet parking is provided at our building. Building management takes responsibility for providing gratuities to the valets who park your vehicle so it is not necessary to tip your valet.

Do you participate with my insurance plan?

Our office participates with most, but not all major medical insurance plans. If we participate with your insurance plan, we will advise you of this and inquire as to whether your plan requires a referral. If we do not participate with your particular plan, you may still be able to be seen in our office using your out-of-network benefits. We will work with you and do our best to make sure that financial barriers do not prevent you from being seen in our office.

Where are you located? What are you near?

We are located at 1200 East Ridgewood Avenue in Ridgewood, New Jersey. Our address and directions to our office can be found on our web site. We are located directly across from a large duck pond. Paramus Road is our nearest cross street.

Which doctor specializes in what I am being seen for?

All of our physicians are Board Certified and they are capable of treating a wide range of neurological conditions. If your treatment issue involves a particular subspecialty, we may refer you to a specific physician. The biographies of all of our physicians are available on our web site.

    What are your office hours?

Our office is generally open from 8 AM to 7 PM most days, although we generally close earlier (around 5 PM) on Fridays. The schedule of each physician varies based on hospital coverage, testing schedules, procedure schedules, meetings, etc. We do have early morning and evening appointments available to try to accommodate the needs of our patients.

Can you see me sooner than the appointment slot you have provided?

We generally book patients in the first available appointment time that you find acceptable. If you feel that you need a sooner appointment, we can place you on our cancellation/emergency list and notify you when an earlier appointment time becomes available. If you believe that you absolutely cannot wait for the scheduled appointment, let our office know and one of our Clinical Managers will contact your referring physician and then discuss the situation with one of our physicians to see what we can do to accommodate you.
